Caesar's best move in 2072 years

888, the largest casino and poker operator on the web, is giving the rest of the industry a clinic in how to prepare for the third (and almost certainly the biggest) wave of online gambling in the US.  888 has inked a deal with Caesars Interactive Entertainment and has already submitted a license application to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.  Online Casino Reports says “In the event that either the US federal government or various state governments legalize and license online gambling, 888’s independent B2B arm Dragonfish will be positioned to launch real money poker to the market almost immediately. Dragonfish will power a selection of Caesars’ already-established poker brands for the online market.”
It seems to me that if you’re not already set up and ready to go when the US online gambling lights start turning green, you’re irreparably behind.  888 knows this, which is why they started forging their partnership with Caesars back in 2009.
Think about that.  I don’t think many of us saw legalization / regulation on the horizon back in 2009 – at least not to the extent that we were out there cutting deals with US land based casino partners / brands.
Caesars deserves credit too.  Kudos to Caesars for understanding the value of its brand.  It’s hard to imagine the Caesars / 888 online offering not being the market leader when the time comes.  I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this is Caesar’s greatest accomplishment since dominating Roman politics in 60 BC.
